Stacy Gayle Fuqua, 72, of Kansas City, passed away surrounded by her loving family on September 3, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. after a courageous battle with heart disease.

Born on July 29, 1954, in Hannibal, Missouri, Stacy was the daughter of the late Bob and Gayle Woodrow. She grew up on a family farm outside of Perry, Missouri, where she spent her youth riding horses, active in church, singing, and being a great student. She later ventured off to Columbia for college, earning her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Missouri.

Stacy dedicated her career to serving children in special education and speech-language pathology. On behalf of multiple area school districts, Stacy spent a career helping students to better communicate. Alongside her professional life, she spent her years raising three boys, collecting speeding tickets, and filling every room she entered with laughter.

Those who knew Stacy will remember her sharp, witty—and occasionally inappropriate—sense of humor, as well as her genuine interest in others. She possessed a rare gift for connecting with people on a deeper level, driven by an authentic curiosity and empathy for all walks of life.

Stacy found great joy in identifying grammatical errors. Above all, her greatest love was her family and the time they spent together.

Stacy is survived by her children, Grant, Clay (Brittany), and Dylan; her step daughter Regan (Bora), her grandchildren, Franklin, Conner, Khan, Cypress. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Gayle Woodrow, her brother Richard Woodrow and her sister Pat Walton.

A Celebration of life honoring Stacy’s life will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Perry Baptist Church. Perry, MO.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association.

Stacy will be deeply missed, but her love, laughter, and lasting influence will live on through her family, the endless memories shared, and the countless young lives she shaped.
