After tearful goodbyes and words of love, Dr. Steven Kent Bowlin closed his eyes and peacefully took his last breath on the evening of Tuesday, September 2, 2025. True to the way he lived, Steve spent his final hours offering comfort to those around him, sharing his wit, warmth, and reassuring presence until the very end.
Steve was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his wife, Cindy, his high school sweetheart, best friend, and partner in life for more than 50 years. Together they built a family grounded in love and laughter. He is also survived by his daughter Michelle Cronk, her husband Doug, and grandsons Zackary (with his wife Samantha) and Ian; as well as his son, Dr. Gregory Bowlin. Countless extended family members, colleagues, and friends will deeply miss his brilliant mind, quick wit, kind heart, and unwavering love for those he held close.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, John and Janet (Zimmerman) Bowlin, and his sister, Brenda (Bowlin) Cagle.
In accordance with Steve’s wishes, a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. His family asks that those who knew him honor his memory by sharing stories, recalling his impact, and remembering the sparkle in his blue eyes and his unforgettable smile.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Steve’s name may be made to a charity of your choice, helping continue the spirit of care, generosity, and compassion that defined his life.
More than his titles and accomplishments, Steve will be remembered for the joy he brought to others, the wisdom he shared, and the love he gave so freely. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
