SUSAN BETH JONES was born on March 2, 1946, to DeForrest and Elise Hibbard in North Kansas City, Missouri. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on June 9, 2024.
She was a graduate of William Jewell College where she met the love of her life Larry Jones. She obtained her master’s from Central Missouri State University and was an active member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She was a teacher and coach at Excelsior Springs High School in Missouri for over 30 years and was inducted into the Excelsior Springs High School Sports Hall of Fame.
Susan had a huge social circle and maintained relationships with her students long after they graduated. She had a vibrant personality and was the life of the party. Susan along with husband Larry were always willing to lend a helping hand when needed.
Susan leaves behind a legacy that will be carried on by those closest to her heart. She is survived by her husband Lawrence (Larry) Jones, son Trevor Jones and his wife Leigh Anne, brother James (Jimmy) Hibbard and his wife Mary, countless nieces and nephews who she adored, and her beloved feline companion Kat Kat. She is reunited in heaven with her parents DeForrest and Elsie Hibbard.
Susan’s family would like to thank the staff of the Laurel at Norterre Assisted Living Facility and Ascend Hospice for taking such good care of her.
Rest in peace, dear Susan. Your joyful spirit will be dearly missed but forever remembered with fondness and admiration.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at a later date
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Gilda’s Club or KC Pet Project.
