Thomas Francis Kievlan, born March 4, 1958, passed away on July 21, 2026, leaving behind a legacy built on dedication, service, and love. He was known to many as a man who shaped his life around his family, his career, and his unwavering commitment to those he cared about.

Throughout his accomplished career, Thomas served as the Assistant Fire Marshall for the Kansas City Fire Department, dedicating 26 years to upholding the safety and well-being of his community. His work was guided by a strong sense of duty and responsibility, traits that defined not only his professional life but also his personal character.

Before embarking on his career as a fire marshall, Thomas served his country as a dedicated member of the United States Air Force. He retired at the rank of E-6 after twenty years of honorable service, an achievement that speaks to his deep sense of honor, perseverance, and loyalty.

Beyond his professional achievements, Thomas found great joy in simple pleasures and meaningful connections. He had a true passion for antiquing and cherished the time spent bonding with his family over this shared interest. American Pickers was a favorite show, reflecting his fascination with history and the stories behind treasured finds. His beer mug collection stood as a testament to his appreciation for the unique and memorable, just like the man himself.

Thomas was not only a loving and dedicated husband but also a supportive father. He led his children by example, always standing behind their decisions and goals, fostering their growth with understanding and encouragement. His sense of humor and warm demeanor brightened the lives of those around him. Thomas was known to friends and family as someone who gave generously—always ensured that his beloved wife, Wan, was cared for, and extended his reach as a “bonus dad” to his children's friends. His home was a welcoming place, marked by kindness and laughter.

His responsible and giving spirit touched everyone who knew him. As a family man and friend, Thomas embodied steadfast devotion, empathy, and a joy for life’s precious moments, both big and small.

While his absence will be keenly felt, the legacy of love, guidance, and strength that Thomas Francis Kievlan leaves behind will remain an enduring source of comfort and inspiration. He will be remembered for his leadership, his heart, and his unwavering support for all those fortunate enough to have known him.

Preceding Thomas in passing, was his parents: Harold and Gertrude Kievlan; sister: Elizabeth Sheperd; and his great niece: Myla Jane West.

He is survived by the love of his life: Wan Kievlan; his loving children: Teresa Kievlan, as well as Jonathan Kievlan and his fiancé, Nicole; also including his 5 sisters: Susan, Barb, Cathy, Patti, and Peggy.
