Thomas Franklin Spreitzer, Sr., 86, of the Kansas City Northland and formerly of Lake Lotawana, passed peacefully on November 25, 2023, surrounded by family at his home.
Tom was born October 5, 1937, in Kansas City, MO, the youngest of three children of Joseph Leonard and Elizabeth Eunice (Cahill) Spreitzer. Along with his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his siblings, James Spreitzer and Aileen McDonnell, and grandson, Matthew Kroeger.
Tom graduated from Rockhurst High School and received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UMKC. He worked many years in the field of Computer Programming for United Computing Systems and Sprint before establishing his own business, the Spreitzer Corporation. Tom wrote his own accounting program which was utilized by five small companies.
Tom was a longtime member of Lake Lotawana Community United Methodist Church and currently Liberty United Methodist Church. He served as President and was a life member of the Lake Lotawana Optimist Club. He served as Director of District 37 of the Lake Lotawana Association. One of Tom’s passions was playing the guitar since age 14. He played guitar with the Butterfly Brass Band at Lotawana and loved boating on the lake and RVing with his wife Dotty. He also performed in “jam sessions” for fellow residents at Liberty at Shoal Creek.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Dorothea “Dotty” Spreitzer; children, Joan Kroeger (David), Thomas Spreitzer Jr., Jean Baker (Steve), Dr. Joy Clore (Kevin), Jolinda McClintock (Jason), and Karin Doll; grandchildren, Brent (Alyssa), Emily (Jason, Kelly), Jonathon (Courtney), Robby, Kelsey (Josh), Stacy, Kye (Karlie), Teegan, Kate, Beck, Axel, Grace, Corben, Cooper, and Gigi; great granddaughter, Adelaide; three nieces and their families, and other family members and friends.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by a service celebrating Tom’s life at 11:00 am, on Thursday, November 30, at Liberty United Methodist Church, 1001 Sunset Street, Liberty, MO 64068. Private burial at Forest Hill Cemetery.
