Thora Evans was born on December 12, 1935, in Penticton, British Columbia, Canada to Ernest and Nellie Byers. Thora’s father bought an apple orchard in Salmon Arm, British Columbia and relocated his family there when she was a child. It was there that she developed her lifelong love for nature and gardening. 

Thora married Howard Holsworth on June 14th, 1957. Together they had 3 children. Unfortunately, Howard passed away in August 1970. Thora married John Evans March 21,1975 and they moved together to Kansas City, MO. Thora gained 3 wonderful bonus daughters from John. They were delighted to be blessed with another son in 1977. 

Thora was blessed to be able to take several memorable trips abroad including seeing where her ancestors were laid to rest in Scotland. John proceeded Thora in death October 31, 2009. Even through life’s difficulties, she remained a faithful follower to Jesus Christ. 

Thora passed away peacefully Sunday morning May 17th, 2026, leaving behind a lasting legacy of love and dedication to her Lord and Savior. 

She is survived by her 4 children: Lenard Holsworth (Mary), Pam Sadberry (Roger) Lawrence Holsworth (Nancy), John Evans (Jennifer). Three bonus daughters Carol Monroe, Ruth Swanson (Stuart), Laurie Evans. 9 grandchildren: Christine, David (deceased) Lauren, Amy, Joshua, Aaron, Liz, Zachary, Sonja. 7 great grandchildren: Ethan, Emily, Madison, Jackson, Emelia, Evelyn, Eloise with one more on the way. Thora also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
