Wanda Mae Carey

Wanda M. (Huntsman) Carey, 89, a lifelong resident of Liberty, Missouri, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2024 at her home. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by funeral services at 2:00 PM, on Monday, May 20, 2024 at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, 1640 N. 291 Hwy, Liberty, MO 64068. Burial will follow at Glenridge Cemetery in Liberty. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Camp CUMCITO c/o City Union Mission or Ability KC Spinal Cord Rehabilitation Center.

Wanda was born on March 16, 1935, in Birmingham, Missouri to Chuck and Dorothy Hunstman. She was an avid cook, baker, quilter, doll maker, seamstress and even made teddy bears. Wanda worked at National Bella Hess for a couple decades starting in the 1950’s before volunteering several years at The City Union Mission. She volunteered at “the mission” for a few years before becoming a full time employee for approximately 10 years. She eventually retired to spend more time with her  family and friends. 

Wanda was preceded in death by Frank Carey (husband); Chuck & Dorothy Huntsman (parents); Carolyn Smith (sister); Johnny Huntsman (brother); Patricia Carey (daughter-in-law); and Dustin Carey (grandson). Wanda will be missed by sister, Judy Cline;  children, Terry (& Angie) Carey and Patricia (Calvert) Johnson; step-children, Danny Carey and Donna Kilbreth; grandchildren, Allyson Carey, Lane Carey, Michael Hall, Brian Strange, and Angela (& Brandon) Daniel; great grandchildren, Anna Wall and Katie Strange; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
