Ralph Omer Wilcox, 78, of Liberty, MO, passed away January 16, 2023, at Liberty Hospital. He was surrounded by family in his final days.
Ralph was born January 16, 1945, in Centerville, KS, the fifth of six children of Omer Jewell Wilcox and Madge Naomi (Peery) Wilcox. He graduated from Parker (KS) High School and served two years in the US Army, stationed in Colorado. Ralph was united in marriage to Donna Lea Smithmier and she preceded him in death. He was later married to Susan Eileen Thompson who survives.
Ralph’s career with Hallmark Cards spanned more than three decades. His passions included going to auctions, collecting Indian artifacts and anything outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was a lifelong Jayhawk! He also loved his dogs, Emmie who died in 2015, and Wendy, who misses him at home.
Along with his first wife Donna, Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Omer and Madge, and sisters, Louise, Jewell, Margaret, and Joann.
Survivors include his wife, Sue; children, Denise Wagner (Bill), Leslie Ewing (Tim) and Keith Omer Wilcox (Jenny); grandchildren, Shawn Wagner (Alex), Paige Bower (Garrett), Kaitlin Corcoran (Justin), Abbie Doakes (Reece), Teagan Wilcox and Collin Wilcox; great granddaughter, Maren Wagner; sister, Juanita Wilson (Loran); as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Private services with burial at Glenridge Cemetery. A celebration of Ralph’s life will be announced at a later date.
Ralph was blessed with an extended 16 years of life with a double lung transplant. In thanksgiving for that gift, in lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Barnes-Jewish Hospital Foundation (www.foundationbarnesjewish.org).
