William Lee Bishop II

January 5, 1968 — May 3, 2025

Liberty, MO

William (Bill) L Bishop II, age 57, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on May 3rd, 2025. Bill was born on January 5th 1968 in Sedalia, Missouri to William Bishop Sr and Beth (Hall) Bishop. He graduated from Lee’s Summit High School in 1986. Bill married Yvonne Winslow in 2003.

The couple lived in Blue Springs until 2013, moving to Raytown for a few years and settling in Liberty in 2015. Bill took his love of fixing cars in high school to making it a full-time career. He worked with his father at Crossroad Sales in Blue Springs, Dick Smith Ford in Raytown, Gary Crossley Ford in Liberty and retired from Northtowne Lincoln in 2023.

Bill was a member of Raytown Masonic Lodge #391.He was a talented man who loved fishing and metal detecting with his dad, going on yearly “hunts” to find treasure. He was also passionate about music from an early age, singing along to whatever was playing on the stereo, especially Neil Diamond.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Basil and Rosalie Hall of Sedalia, MO and paternal grandparents, Marion and Patricia Bishop of LaMonte, MO.

Bill is survived by his parents William Bishop I and Beth Bishop of Blue Springs, Missouri; wife, Yvonne; daughter Hollyann Bishop; daughter Amanda Pettis, Sedalia; son William Bishop III of Sedalia; son Tyler ( Erin) Winslow of Tacoma, Washington. Grandchildren Piper & Brody Gerlach of Sedalia; Olen Pettis of Sedalia; Ella Brown of Sedalia; Jordan Edwards, Tacoma, Washington; Hailee, Andrew and Austin Winslow of Tacoma, Washington.

Bill was a talented musician that played in local and regional bands for over 30 years. He played piano, drums, bass and lead guitar. Some of the bands he was in are DV8, Harpo’s Garage, Badwire, 4th Stage (Boston tribute), Rock Steady (Bad

Company Tribute), Drive 13, Full Moon Band, The Bucket Band and Diamond Gold (Neil Diamond tribute). One thing that everyone said about Bill was that his voice was phenomenal. He could sing a harmony to anything and had a range that covered anything from Boston to Neil Diamond. He could also mimic any vocal style from folk to oldies to country. He was a huge fan of the band Boston. From changing the time of their wedding to attend a concert (and go backstage and meet the band) to naming both of his daughters after Boston songs. He also formed 4th Stage a tribute to Boston. His last show was with Diamond Gold on February 15th at the Aztec Theater in Shawnee.

Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather and son and a good friend to all.

A big man with a big heart, always willing to help. In recent years he became an avid fan of daughter, Holly’s ice-skating competitions, traveling to many out of state contests with KCMOMENTUM. He was very proud of his older kids and their accomplishments in life, and their beautiful families.

He fought courageously for the last few months of his life and never gave up. He died peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
