William Elbert Van Dyke

William Elbert Van Dyke, a longtime Lee’s Summit, MO resident, passed away August 6, 2023, at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, KS.

          Bill was born October 31, 1927, in Pettis County, MO, the son of Frank B. and Mary Irene (Sims) Van Dyke.  He graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, and a Master’s in Finance. 

          Bill’s career with Missouri Power and Light spanned 40 years when he retired as Vice President. He was a member of Lee’s Summit United Methodist Church. 

          Bill was united in marriage to Patricia Joan Opp on October 1, 1950, and she preceded him in death on March 5, 1997.  He was then married to Sallie Foreman Fisher on July 25, 1998, and she preceded Bill in death on February 25, 2012.  He was also preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Ray Van Dyke and a sister.

          Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Van Dyke and Melody LaBoube; son, Alan Van Dyke; brothers, Elmer Van Dyke, MD and Leroy Van Dyke; a sister, Mary Frances Francis, as well as other family and friends. 

          Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, August 11, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Sedalia, MO.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, August 11, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Sedalia, MO.
To get to the cemetery, go south on Highway M to Pleasant Hill Road. Then, West on Pleasant Hill Road 1.6 miles
to Methodist Church on the right. The cemetery is behind the church.
