With profound sadness and immeasurable gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Willie Mack Fletcher Jr., lovingly known as "June Bug" and "Pappy," who peacefully entered his eternal home on June 16, 2026, at 7:54 a.m. at the age of 86.

Born in Huntsville, Alabama, Willie was a man whose story embodied the very definition of sacrifice, perseverance, humility, and unconditional love. As a young man, he made the difficult decision to leave school so he could help support and care for his family of sixteen.

Long before he became a husband, father, grandfather, and friend to so many, he had already learned one of life's greatest lessons—that true strength is found in serving others. That lesson became the foundation of the life he built.For 36 years, Willie worked faithfully for Pepsi-Cola, providing for his family with unwavering dedication and an unmatched work ethic. Yet those who knew him best understand that his greatest accomplishments were never measured by years of service or career milestones. His greatest accomplishment was the way he loved people.

Willie was the most selfless man many of us will ever know. He consistently placed the needs of others before his own and gave freely of his time, wisdom, and talents. If something was broken, he could fix it. Whether it was a lawnmower, a household appliance, a vehicle, or a problem that seemed impossible to solve, Willie approached it with patience, determination, and skill. 

But what made him special wasn't simply that he could fix things—it was that he taught others how to fix them too. A natural teacher and leader, Willie believed knowledge was meant to be shared. He took pride in showing others how things worked, encouraging them to learn, and helping them believe in themselves. He didn't just repair machinery; he helped build confidence, character, and capability in those around him.

He found joy in fishing, gardening, tinkering in the garage, and spending time outdoors. Blessed with a remarkable green thumb, he could coax life from the soil and beauty from the simplest seed. He appreciated hard work, simple pleasures, and the satisfaction that comes from creating something with your own hands.

One of Willie's greatest passions was bowling. What began as a hobby grew into a lifelong love of the sport. He spent many years bowling in league competition, where he formed lasting friendships and became known for his competitive spirit, sportsmanship, and enthusiasm. Bowling gave him the opportunity to travel extensively, competing in tournaments across the United States and creating cherished memories along the way. Whether celebrating a great game or simply enjoying the camaraderie of teammates and fellow bowlers, Willie treasured every moment spent on the lanes. 

Willie never met a stranger. Whether he was talking with a lifelong friend or someone he had just met, he had a unique gift for making people feel welcomed, valued, and seen. His kindness crossed generations, backgrounds, and circumstances. People were naturally drawn to him because he treated everyone with dignity and respect.A devoted sports fan, Willie proudly supported the Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs for decades. As a Chiefs season ticket holder for ten years, he celebrated victories, endured losses, and created countless memories cheering alongside family and friends. 

His loyalty wasn't limited to sports—it was a reflection of the commitment he brought to every aspect of his life. He also possessed a deep love for travel and adventure. From coast to coast and across multiple countries, Willie embraced opportunities to see the world, meet new people, and experience new places. Yet no matter where his travels took him, home was always wherever his family gathered. 

Above all else, Willie cherished his family. To many, he was a husband, father, brother, uncle, neighbor, mentor, and friend. To his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he was simply June Bug or "Pappy"—a steady presence, a trusted guide, a source of wisdom, laughter, comfort, and unconditional love. His family was his greatest pride and his life's greatest blessing.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Mack Fletcher Sr. and Betty Fletcher; and his brothers, James Fletcher, Larry Fletcher, and Ronnie Fletcher. 

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sue Fletcher; his daughters, Jackie Nugent, Angie Fletcher, Melissa Rubio, and Kimberly Kennedy; his brothers, George (Teresa) Fletcher and Jim (Deborah) Fletcher; his sisters, Angie Fletcher, Maggie Lee Fletcher, Diane Butler, and Melissa Butler; his faithful companion, Snoopy; and a loving family that includes grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives were forever enriched by knowing him. 

Though our hearts are broken by his absence, we find comfort knowing his long journey is complete. After years of facing health challenges with courage and dignity, he has been restored, renewed, and welcomed into eternal peace.The lessons he taught, the values he lived, and the love he shared will continue to guide generations to come. His legacy is not found in what he owned, but in what he gave. It lives in every person he encouraged, every family member he sacrificed for, every lesson he passed on, every problem he helped solve, every garden he planted, every laugh he shared, and every life he touched. We were blessed to know him. 

We are better because of him. And we will carry his love forward for the rest of our lives. Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever our June Bug and Pappy.
