Zephia Mae Turner Davis was born February 27, 1944 in Kansas City, Kansas to Areatha Thomas, her birth mother. She was raised by her adopted parents, Samual and Mary Turner. All of her parents have preceded her in death.
She married her high school sweetheart, Porter Davis, Jr. They were married for almost thirty years. Her husband preceded her in death. They had one son, Shaun Michaels Davis.
She attended Wendell Phillips Elementary school, Lincoln Junior High and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1962. She graduated from Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri with a Bachelor of Science in education, a Master of science in Education from Central Missouri State university in Warrensburg, MO in 1973, an Educational Administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Missouri.
She taught school for thirty years in the (KCMSD) Kansas City Missouri School District. During those thirty years, she was an elementary and middle school teacher. She also was a Reading teacher, Alpha II Reading Teacher, Resource Teacher, Computer Teacher, and a (SWAS) School Within a School Counselor. She truly enjoyed all expects of her teaching profession.
Some of her activities included: a Girl Scout, member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and past Basileus of the Eta Zeta Zeta chapter, and past board member of the March of Dimes. She enjoyed visiting the sick, doing volunteer work at: Kaleidoscope, Harvesters, Unicorn Theater, Hidden Lake Care Center, National Museum of African American History and Culture and her church, Paseo Baptist. She enjoyed making and giving her handmade cards to friends and family members.
She leaves to morn her passing, son Shaun M. Davis, Sister-in-law Porticia Davis, Brother, Bishop Emery Lindsay and Pearl Lindsay Sister in Law, four sisters, Gwendolyn Lindsay, Patricia Lindsay, Rachel (Lindsay) Walker and Amita (Lindsay) Smith. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and very dear friends
